A Tour to Remember
History and Wildlife with Kodiak Discovery Tours
At Kodiak Water Taxi & Transport, we know logistics. We handle freight loads, large and small, provide support for film crews heading out to remote locations, participate in emergency response, and offer reliable maritime transportation throughout the Gulf of Alaska.
But did you know that Captain Tyler and his crew also offer something for those times when work isn’t on the schedule? Kodiak Discovery Tours is the ultimate way to experience the beauty of Alaska when you’re not on the clock.
And these tours aren’t your typical whale watching tour or wildlife cruise. Kodiak Discovery Tours perfectly blends history, nature, and native Alutiiq culture for authentic experiences in Kodiak, Alaska.
Tours focus on Russian, military, WWII, fishing, and native Alaskan history, all while showcasing incredible views of the water and island – and all the wildlife you’ll see along the way.
Just as with Kodiak Water Taxi & Transport, Kodiak Discovery Tours boasts knowledgeable, friendly, seasoned crew members who are passionate about Alaska. You won’t listen to pre-recorded messages or get the same spiel as every other tour. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience with a team that loves what they do – and wants to share it all with you.
The Ocean Discovery
This 75-foot catamaran can hold up to 149 passengers and follows the highest levels of safety. It’s U.S. Coast Guard inspected and certified, and the spacious viewing decks offer plenty of room for guests to enjoy the views without feeling crowded. It’s a smooth ride, with an indoor heated salon and outdoor observation decks where you might spot sea lions, seals, puffins, sea otters, bald eagles, and even whales!
Your Tour Highlights
Over the 2 to 2 ½ hours on the boat, you’ll enjoy history along the waterfront, amazing scenery, and unmatched comfort. Sit back and relax with authentic storytelling, diving deep into the rich history of the area. Learn about Alutiiq heritage, wildlife conservation, and Alaska’s role in WWII.
Some sites along the way include Puffin Island, Spruce Cape Navy SEAL Training Center, and the Star of Kodiak cannery. Your guide will offer local stories, fascinating history tidbits, and a wealth of firsthand knowledge about Kodiak. Listen, ask questions, and enjoy the ride.
